Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join Tate Britain, supporting the delivery of our programme.

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about the arts? Tate Britain is seeking an Exhibitions Assistant to join our dynamic team and play a key role in support the delivery of world-class exhibitions, displays and commissions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning, coordination, and administration of Tate Britain’s artistic programme, supporting the smooth delivery of projects that inspire and engage audiences.

You’ll be at the heart of bringing exhibitions to life. From organising and minuting key meetings to booking rooms and catering, you’ll keep everything running smoothly. You’ll support curators with accurate record-keeping, maintain exhibition checklists, and help prepare essential loan documentation. You’ll arrange travel and courier bookings, source props and materials, and assist with production duties for programmes. Your role will also involve hands-on tasks like updating 2D and 3D layouts using SketchUp, co-ordinating courier appointments, and providing on-the-ground support during installation periods—acting as a point of contact, overseeing deliveries, and assisting with vitrine installations. You’ll help with research, sourcing images and publications, preparing presentations, and archiving programme information.

As part of the Exhibitions team, you will work closely with the Programme and Finance Manager and other Exhibitions Assistants to provide essential programme management, financial administration, and general support. Your responsibilities will include maintaining departmental schedules, updating project timelines, and compiling key information for the forward programme of exhibitions and displays.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational and administrative skills, who can prioritise and work under pressure. You will have strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, along with effective written and verbal communication skills

We welcome applicants who bring transferable skills and experience. But an interest in, and commitment to working for Tate is essential. If you meet most of the criteria and are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to apply.

We don’t accept CVs, so please complete all sections of the form, including your education and work history. Use this space to share specific examples of what you’ve done and how you work.
